Hello Pontiac world.
I'm currently taking orders on my new lifter wall support kit. Digitized from a #481988 PMD block and will fit 70's era blocks better than others. This kit will both act as a support to all the weak lifter walls of the Pontiac block and will also keep unwanted parts from hitting the rotating camshaft in case of a valve train failure. All traditional Pontiac roller lifter applications create side loads on the lifter walls of the block and therefore I recommend this lifter wall support kit in all serious rebuilds. Your Pontiac block will need prep work and the support pieces will also need some grinding, depends on the block. They can vary by quite a bit. Block will also need four 5/16-24 drill & tap operations, please see attached file in the first post. 70's decade blocks have the nicest fit as machined in my findings... Kris. |

Question, what is holding all this down ? Is it based on the two 5/16 bolts for the valley cover. Is there any drilling or tapping required like the KRE brace. I bought one of those and never used it because I did not want to drill and tap right on top of a cam bearing. So I bought the basic SD brace.
I have a full SD brace for the build I am doing now. Is there any epoxy used to take up space like the SD brace ? I do not see any of the steel plates that go under and "clamp" from top to bottom. Nice looking piece |

Hello & thanks for the interest. I have a revision B install guide in the works showing baby steps on the prep and install.
The kit has a total of 6 bolt forces acting on it plus a full epoxy bond on each aluminum block all around. The kit requires 4 drill and tap locations 5/16-24. No drilling or tapping into the cam bores needed. Drill & tap locations as follows: 1. Front of block, through hole. Utilizing the small billet steel banjo bolts and set screws acting on the aluminum block. 2. Front of lettering pad (cubic inch lettering pad 00/50/55). 3: Rear of lettering pad. 4: Rear of block, through hole. Same deal as the front |

Looks good, but I was thinking that with the way you have machined a pocket in each brace, rather than have the single oil drain hole in each, would it be possible to perhaps design a little wider pocket rather than the step pocket and then drill holes above each cam lobe so that the pocket would collect oil and then drip that oil down onto each cam lobe? May be able to market it to benefit a flat tappet cam in that configuration.
