455, disc brakes, ac, posi rear end too bad the body is rusted. 60k miles . What are these posi rear ends going.for ? Are people still using these disc brakes to convert? Back for 65-70 . Rotors look decent , i know there not available anymore . It still even has antifreeze in the radiator at least. Not sure why my pics are upside down ?

My understanding is the rotors were not available for some time, but they are again - Rock Auto shows them from both AC Delco and Raybestos, for under $40/each. Having said that, the spindles and calipers are worth having.

Lots of big car parts you could sell.

Does the engine turn?

Bill Eveland 10-19-2019 06:25 PM

Not sure yet. Its a 455ho , big bonus. 64 heads , xf block

grandam1979 10-19-2019 07:16 PM

Are you selling or keeping the engine I might be interested if it’s for sale?

Hmmm the 64 heads came on firebirds and A bodies. The standard 70 455 head for a big car was a 15 head. Only about 10 horses less, factory rating...

I hope the engine is good!

If you sell the engine, I'll give you $5.00 more than grand Am's bid :D and you can keep the heads!

Good score Bill! Have had quite a few XF's out of 70 GP's, two right now, a few '70 YA/YC's. Have only ran across one XF in a 70 Bonne, all other '70 Bonnes I've pulled orig engines from had the YH 15 head engine. 64 casting heads were just used on '70 model A, B, G model 455's. the first set I ever had was early 80's. went through them, new valve springs, 7/16 BBC studs. 2nd pair I sold bare to Ron J, that was many moons ago. Stock valves are slightly shorter than '68-70 big valve 400 heads. Ended up installing that 1st pair of 64's on a re-ringed '70 T/A YZ engine & put it in my '80 T/A for a while.

Good score ! I parted one of these (70 Bonneville 455 XF/64 Convertible) about 10 years ago, mine had the 3.23 posi diff, the frame and floors were rusted out from sitting in the grass.

stevep 10-21-2019 07:24 PM

The spindles are the same for disc and drum for 1967-1970. The caliper brackets are the good things to have.

70staged1 10-21-2019 08:36 PM

1 of 726, 4 door hardtops built with a 455HO. Damn. . . Wish it were mine. Nice find. Love those '70 fullsize Ponchos

Just go to rockauto.com and look them up.

The big car ‘67-70 rotors are not available. What is available per everyone’s computer is the 5 on 4.75 rotors from A-bodies. The big car rotors are still unavailable.

Bill Eveland 10-22-2019 12:06 PM

The protecto plate was still in the glovebox. Its got electronic trunk release also. Ive heard some of that swaps over to a bodies as well as a few other parts.

77 TRASHCAN 10-24-2019 08:59 PM

Build it!!!
Leave paint as is,
500+ Pontiac power plant, 4L80E,
Tinted windows, AC.
Drive it!!!

Bill Eveland 10-26-2019 03:07 PM

Its way to rusted, around the winshield , floors, trunk etc. Its been sitting all the door latches are stuck also. Trust me would love to have it running as is. Roll into a carshow with this beast, moss and everthing on the car in a field of nice cars

California Pontiac Restoration has 1969-1970 big car rotors listed on their website - I would assume they would know the difference, but I agree it should be verified before ordering them. http://www.pontiacparts.net/Chassis/default.htm
