This month's Car Craft has a good test of power of a Mustang with an X pipe, an H pipe, and open headers. The test matched what has been verified many, many times; with the X, they saw reduced sound levels, increased power over the H, and essentially as much power as with the headers open. I suspect the weight of the pipes/mufflers will be the only factor that affects the way the car will run at the strip with the system on as compared to open headers and this is what we saw on the wagon years ago when we ran back to back tests.

It is great to know that so many tests continue to show the benefit of the X. No wonder so many manufacturers are now selling them and this issue even lists more. Car Craft gives praise to Dr. Gas: "X-crossovers are the hot ticket these days, thanks in a big part to the Dr. Gas company which is credited for bringing the tangentially siamesed crossover (X-pipe) to the motorsports sector." And coincidentally, the Pontiac magazines (HPP, PE) and then PHR, were the first to run back-to-back testing years ago that verified all the benefits of the X.
