72 Valve Cover hardware
 

I was looking thru NPD website and came across this posting:

Where do these mount? Are they correct?

Does the wiring harness clip into the hole in the 2 identical ones?

What does the the third do? Does it hold the temp sender wire for my gauge on the drivers side of the block?

Anyone have pics of how they are mounted?

Yes they are correct. One mounts to the drivers side valve cover to hold the wire for the temp sender on cars with gauges.

Another one at the passenger side valve cover to hold the harness/wires for the TCS switch.

Not sure about the third one.. Never seen it on 72 cars, but I might be wrong..

Thanks Mesca - I knew something had to attach to the temp sending wire but I wasn't sure how. where did you get the black plastic wire tie part?

Inline Tube has them also but I cant find the part #.

Agree, not sure where the mfg came up with the 3rd (loop style) stamped steel piece.
Two '72 HO's & a 400 stick LeMans here, plus the ultra low mile LuxLeMans example/parts car... none have that piece.

On the pic above, appears to be a fairly nicely detailed early '72 HO engine, & a good example to show how the lh valve cover clip & temp sender wire were mounted. Not 100% as built, as someone has added a Dport engine tube to guide the positive battery cable.

on my M&H engine harness, the section that goes along the driver's side valve covers had 2 white push pin/clips - are they supposed to clip into something on the valve covers or intake

What year is your car? For 71 and 72, the engine harness runs along the driver side valve cover, no clips or pins, it just sits on the intake.

Maybe previous years are different, OPH will know! lol

Those push pin clips go to brackets that mount to the valve cover bolts on the top side.

Pat are the brackets the same ones that I posted about in my first post - do you have a pic of your engine you can post

ahhh...yeah, those are the ones I am referring to...the first two on the left. They are close, I don't remember them being so wide around the bolt hole. But those are the brackets the harness clips to.
