Flow comparison

Just thought i'd add some tech to the board, maybe generate some discussion.
Valve sizes on the heads ranged from 2.28 to 2.365. HP heads have made 1050 horespower with 1 carb and a cam that is gental on valve springs, other heads have not been run yet.

..........HP / PP / Tiger
.200 125 142
.300 194 218 221
.400 266 292 287
.500 334 349 367
.600 387 402 421
.700 417 446 453
.800 425 470 466
.900 428 477 478
1.00 430 480 484

Do you have dimensions on the ports for each? Port opening...CC of the port...
Were the heads all ran on a motor or just the HPs?

Thanks for posting, and what's your plan for these heads?

I really wish you had the flow numbers for the Tigers @ .200" lift and the max port area for each head and the info of how many cid of a motor these heads where going on?

The flow numbers at .200" lift are just as important as max high lift when Exh scavenging depressions are added into the equation at overlap!

Looking at what you posted the PP heads will make for a nice gain in Hp over the high ports and the Tigers will do even better if there port area is not too much for your cid, but with the Tigers you will need a Carb of for example 1150 cfm or better if your had been running a 1050 type dominator.

Most motors that can breath deep enough to make over 1000 hp on a single Carb will gain 25 to 30 hp with duel Carbs on a Tunnel ram it seems.

Thanks again!

Do you have exhaust numbers?

Nice numbers...you have a lot tied up in those 3 sets of heads...

PAUL K 01-07-2020 07:15 PM

Nice numbers...the Tigers have the most power potential but the Pro-ports would be the best all around head. The Hi-ports will make big power also.

You get them at the neighborhood garage sale ;)

opeliac 01-07-2020 07:20 PM

Who ported each set? Are they CNC'd, or hand ported?

Not sure i agree with you on the pro ports, there is a reason they are no longer available imo.

That's okay you don't have to agree with me. I just thought I'd let you know how they stack up. :D

Dan does good work!

Based on those flow numbers...

In your opinions...Which heads would be better on a 480" turbo combo with a .650-.700 lift camshaft? Max power mindset.
