I have a 71 Trans Am basket case,and noticed it has what looks like the thick hear adams sway bars front and back.Is this factory or no?If not,what belongs there?Thanks

I believe the 70-73 TA's used a 7/8" rear sway bar and a 1 1/4" front right from the factory. They changed them throughout the ears of the 2nd Gen F body and with the different models. The Formula of those years I believe had a 1 1/8" front bar, and the base firebird something even smaller.

According to my copy of the '71 Pontiac Press release (which was included in my Pontiac Historic Services folder) the Trans Am had a 1-1/4" front bar and 7/8" rear. The Formula had 1-1/8 & 7/8.

The Adams front & rear bars were 1 5/16" & 1" respectively. The front Adams bars attached via small brass or steel mtg blocks bolted to the lower control arm with Heim jointed links between these blocks & the swaybar ends.

If your front bar is connected via the std bolt-sleeve-bushing routine, chances are you have the '70.5-74 T/A front bar.
