Saw this on the news last night, a miracle for sure! His Papa was watching over them all.

David Jones 08-16-2019 11:22 AM

Rattled his cage a bit though.....

Good to see that they're relatively OK.

Other than that, "hello, insurance company?"

Baron Von Zeppelin 08-16-2019 11:44 AM

damn

Hang tough , Dale

salem1912 08-16-2019 12:52 PM

He's (they) are lucky to be alive. Don't see many walking away from small plane crashes like that one. The big guy was watching over them for sure!

Firedup6975 08-16-2019 12:54 PM

An absolute miracle! More then half of that plane was gone! :(

I would live to see the FAA and NTSB reports on this crash. That particular series of Citations are good aircraft.

The Champ 08-17-2019 10:21 AM

It will be an easier job for the FAA and NTSB as the whole thing is on video.

https://www.today.com/news/new-detai...-crash-t160950

"The airplane basically bounced at least twice before coming down hard on the right main landing gear," said National Transportation Safety Board investigator Ralph Hicks at the news conference. "You can actually see the right main landing gear collapsing on the video. The airplane continued down the runway, off to the end, through a fence and came to a stop behind me here on Highway 91."

Thank God Daddy watching his boy..

Yep. After 10 years flying the Sovereign, the Latitude is my girl now... Good machine indeed, and great for short fields like this.

Really feel bad for all involved, but thankful no one was hurt.

Earnhart Jr. may have survived but NASCAR is really crashing and burning.

Rocco Testa 08-18-2019 10:06 PM

They said that the landing gear collapsed on the airplane, causing to go off the runway

GT182 08-18-2019 10:16 PM

Glad Jr and the family are safe.

We had a Beech Baron go down here this morning. We saw them take off and at about 50 feet he lost an engine. He got it back on the runway ok, restarted the engine, return to the end of runway 1 and took of again. At about 3 miles out he lost the engine again, didn't declare an emergency, and tried to return to land. They crashed behind the hospital in a wooded marsh. 2 on board, but neither survived.

Landing gear failures are incredibly rare unless there is a problem with the retraction system.

Lost a good friend who attempted to “dead stick” a Comanche back to the airport. Just because an aircraft has two engines does NOT mean it can FLY on one.

Well, I found out this morning I lost a friend in that crash yesterday morning. He worked at the airport here.... KILG. I met him 11 years ago on a Sunday morning when we'd launch the Mig-21 and then later on launch the L-39. He was always telling jokes and kept saying stay safe to us all. I was out on the ramp one Sunday in the rain and didn't have a raincoat with me. The next week he gave me a camo military raincoat of his that I still have to this day. I tried to give it back but he wouldn't take it.... that was the kind of guy he was.
