67 2+2 on eBay
Wondering if anyone knows this car from in the past. The repo window sticker shows it was a "Special Paint" car originally.
It's now Black , and has been frame-off restored. eBay Link https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Pontia....c100009.m1982 Black wasn't a full charge special order color on a 67 2+2 was it ? Wasn't Black just a standard color for 67 Just curiosity on my part And curious what the original color shade was - if it wasn't Black. This car has some great options Cruise, Tilt, AC, Disc Brakes, Power Everything even the Vent Windows |
great car BUT those wheels suck and get rid of that stupid air cleaner decal. wrong air cleaner anyway.
|
Definitely one of the "Lee" sisters with those wheels!!!
|
That thing is begging for some 8-lugs or Hurst Wheels. Whatever is on there now is an abomination.
Black should be a standard color for '67 - I sent the seller a question asking if he knows the original color (or if there is evidence to suggest what it was) as I am curious as well. |
The wheels aren't factory ? hmm :D
Looks like the grilles were modified And something like turn signal indicators on top of the front fenders. It is still a great car all in all. Those 15" disc brake center cap/hubcaps would look good put back on the car. |
i agree on the 21st century foolz wheels
Those are doing about 10k+ worth of damage to the curb appeal/bid appeal of the car. |
It may have been one of the special "Spring Colors" for 1967
Omaha Orange, Tiger Gold, Verdoro Green, Sherwood Green. Trim Tag photo might help. Most times the spring colors had the number 1 for paint code. Or the Dupont or Ditzler formula number |
Are people ever going to quit bitching about those air cleaner decals? Get over it for cripes sake. Buy the car, remove the decal. What's the big deal?

One thing about a 67 2+2 , it already has 428 plastered all over it already. Guess it just needed one more sticker to be sure about it. haha :) |
ill never quit, they are stupid looking and just ruin a good engine compartment in my opinion.
|
I like it. It wouldn't take very long to change the wheels and remove the air cleaner decal, I wouldn't complain about them.
It would be interesting to know the original special order paint color - if the owner has the PHS documents it should be written on the build sheet, I know it was for my car. |
PHS can't determine exact special paint colors except for 65 Tiger Gold GTO's.
Or Code 4 - Primer Was your car a special color Stuart ? Omaha Orange would be wild on a 67 2+2 , maybe even too wild. |

Code 1 in 1966 could have been any of these colors.
As far as just looking at Code 1 on a Billing History Card at PHS Headquarters. 66 and 67 Tiger Gold fell under the Code 1 umbrella. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...1&d=1586451348 In 1965 - Tiger Gold was Code 2, by itself. Or it's been said it was by itself , as Code 2 anyway. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...1&d=1586451348 https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...1&d=1586451348 |
Car looks nice in the pics. Would be nice to know original color but that would just be for general knowledge as it would cost a fortune to return it to that color. Auction ended with only 2 bidders and at 30K. That seems a little light considering the condition and rarity of the car. Would be interesting to know what the seller had for the reserve. If he was hoping for 60K+, he will be waiting a while. Without seeing any pictures of the trunk interior or any underneath pics, I would think top $ would be high 30's. Some things unknown: How butchered the trunk interior is from the air suspension abomination. How nice the floors and frame are. Someone with a 92 Caprice might want the DUB wheels and air suspension, that would recover a grand or two. Looks like a nice straight body and an original interior and lots of options.

1965 and Newer PHS docs don't have that provision/ability to list special color names or formula numbers. Notice that the 65 and 66 Tiger Gold documents that Chris and I posted make no mention of a color or formula number for their special paint. 1964's could, but i think that was the last potential form that listed out any build memos. Hidden Factory Build Sheets will usually spell out a special color. But sometimes even they don't list it out. Most cars with special paint (musclecar sector) PHS just hand writes it was an unknown special color paint. The seller of this 67 2+2 stated in the ad they had the Build Sheet , but a lot of people confuse the PHS Document as a Build Sheet. A real actual hidden Build Sheet would have a good chance of spelling out the original color / formula number used. Here is PHS for a 64 GTO painted Anniversary Gold that lists it out like your 1961 car. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...1&d=1586556966 |
Does someone have a sheet that shows the 1967 special-order colors like the '66 posted?
|
Jeff Hamlin (PY member) might have that for 1967
Think i got the 66 sheet via him. He mostly posts in the 66-67 GTO section. One of the guys in that section would be the best chance. I don't have it , just the names. |
