Can Am Engine Breather Tube

I was contacted by a guy that just bought a Can Am, it is mostly stock but one of the things it is missing is the Breather Tube that goes from the passenger side valve cover to the air cleaner assembly.

Does anyone know if anyone makes that part? And if it is the same part used on other models or is it unique to the Pontiac 400 powered C/A's?

Try OPGI or Ames - one on EBAY now

You can also fab one up - easiest fix is just buy a vented breather cap off the shelf and pop it on. The breather up to the carb was for emissions, so when you floor it and blow by pressure has to escape, those gases are re-burned into the carb.

Or get this one on EBAY (only 20 bucks, not mine)

At first I thought that the breather tube on eBay would not work on the 77 Can Am, since that tube is for 73-76 Pontiacs. I know 77 and up Trans Ams use a different tube that is shorter and straighter than the earlier, longer, curvier one. The reason for the difference was because the 76 and earlier air cleaners had the hole further forward on the air cleaner base, so the tube has to be longer to reach it. In 77, they moved the hole to the side of the air cleaner for a straighter shot to the valve cover.

But, after looking at photos of several Can Ams, I can see that the 77 Can Am actually still uses the older, 73-76 style breather tube.

So, moontower69 was correct in referring you to the 73-76 tube on eBay.

Here's a new reproduction, but it says for 68-74. It looks the same, so I don't know why it wouldn't work. https://www.ebay.com/itm/68-74-Ponti...vjU:rk:20:pf:0

Can Am question

Off topic a bit but I LOVE the Can Am. Did you guys know if they ever made a 4 speed version - I'm guessing not?

I think the Can Am was the backdoor version of the last GTO. My 2 cents.

According to Wikipedia, you're right. They only came with automatics.
