Thrust Plate

I am using a Comp Cams HR grind for my 455. As required I swapped out the distributor gear for a poly (could have been a bronze as well). I am pulling the cam this winter during a refresh and am wondering if it is okay to use the original thrust plate from the engine. It is is great shape and I saved it when removed it many years ago. I may swap it back in place of the aftermarket one I am currently using, or is an aftermarket required like for the dizzy gear. Thanks

If your cam plate does not have any groove in it, it will be ok to use. the builders like to see somewhere around .007 end play. Some of the after market cam plates are thinner. Stock cam plates are usually around .024
Make sure you measure the plate thickness and the end play when done.
