Nice car but what would it be worth without all the stickers on it?

higgenslake 07-08-2020 05:40 PM

$20,000

First try to find a wagon worth restoring then do the change over with a big V8.I think that car is a 30-35 K car without the Arni stuff on it.JMO,Tom

Exactly ^^^

You don't get your money back on an original restoration, you sure as hell are not getting it back on a modified car regardless who's name is attached to it.

This sold for $30,000.00, came with receipts totaling $186,000.00 and is far more car than the Beswick clone.

Then he obviously will have it a loooong time.

The 2 door car is a 100% race car,ran in the 9s.I talked to Scott about what it would take to make it a street car and he said a lot.Rebuild on the engine for sure with cam and pistons.Complete wiring job. That was the left over of the doner car to restore the 63 SD wagon so Randy had Scott build him a 2 door race car..Tom

I know all about that car from day 1. Arnie had a hand in it as well. What Scott said is spot on and is why the car will never do any money. The car is a nice car but a morphodite with an identity crisis. It was built to mimic a modern version of a Super Duty but with a heavy full street interior. Its a street car that can't be driven on the street and its a race car that no racer wants because its too heavy due to all the street trim.

So who would want it? Only some Pontiac freak with too much money (like the last 4 or 5 owners) so it can sit in the corner of their shop like it has since its been built and they can say, "look at me and look what I got". Arnie is not too thrilled about what has happen to this car.

It was Mecum Kissimmee and it was $30,000.00. A guy in OK sold it. He bought it thinking it was a Pro-Tourer. Said he couldn't stand driving it because it was too loud. The car doesn't even have a speedometer.

tom s 07-08-2020 10:58 PM

Pretty sure it sold for like 70K once.Tom

This is what I remember as well, Tom. Like 70k and it was very very clean. It had one of the SD bathtubs on it that fits E-heads. If someone bought it for 30k they got a hell of a deal.

30 grand > https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0113-14...ntiac-tempest/

It also has a set of 63 421SD NASCAR AFBs on it.I think the engine is worth 25K at least.I think Greg Tetters paid 70K for the car, dont remember the owners after him.Tom

Again, I guarantee you that there are very few people that know more about the red car than I do. You don't have to believe me, as many in this joint don't, ask Don Keefe just how much I know.

Now… Back on topic. The white car is a "clone" as well as a race car with no historic name attached other than stickers and will be lucky to see 30 grand. Some old Pontiac people need to take the rose-colored glasses off and see some of these cars for what they are really worth, regardless of the carburetors or how much (wasted) money was spent. I am a hardcore Pontiac person but I also keep an open mind as to what these cars are actually worth. I also don't watch TV drama auctions with inebriated bidders.
