1966 Tempest Value
3 Attachment(s)
Original 6cyl
Interior is full of racoon and mice Body is decent for what it is |
looks like a solid Tempest Custom
with some GTO bolt ons hope the bottom is solid as thats what determines the worth. Any options on it? |
Any interior shots? I know you stated mice and raccoon crap, but still curious.
Thx. |
Looks like a nice car worth getting back on the road. Value depends on the condition of what can’t be seen in the photos, like the interior and underside.
3 to 5k is my initial thought on value without seeing anything other than a dirty exterior. I spy what looks like a ‘64 GTO or at least a Le Mans with a GTO hood sitting right behind it. |

Underside is rusty but from what I could see relatively solid for what it is. Body looks nicer than the underside 64 is a real GTO and so far not for sale Quote:
It has a 3spd manual trans Quote:

Filthy trashed interior and the smell of animals and their dirty business that’s hard to remove. Underside rusty but still structurally sound ?
Value looks like 3k at best, hopefully they’re not thinking they have a gold mine sitting there rusting and dusting away. Why do people leave the windows rolled down letting the big critters have access ? These kinds of cars are money pits when everything inside is trashed. It takes just as much money to bring back as would a GTO. As much as I love the Tempest and Le Mans cars I understand they’re only worth half to maybe two thirds as much as a similar GTO. |
At the very least it looks like it has some nice parts. I'd say about $3k right also... especially with no engine or trans.
|
Ive got a 68 Firebird that was a home to a few critters before I got it.
vacuumed and pressure washed the inside and sprayed liberal amounts of Simple Green. that was 30 yrs ago and still doesnt smell. |

Being stored where it is I'm sure mice would get in no matter what. The owner is a really neat guy. 100% Pontiac. When he was still farming his Chevy 4wd truck was Pontiac powered. I've known him over 25 years. He's 82 now. Time gets away. When I first saw the car 20+ years ago I didn't have money to buy it. Just found out it was still there. |
NO WAY, to give a fair assessment off those 3 images.
But based on the description 3-4K max. |

Here was mine in better days. Quite similar. The one you've pictured having a manual transmission is pretty cool.

My friend's dad had a 66 4spd tri-power GTO when we were growing up. Always loved that car. He drove it like he was 16 till the day he sold it. Crazy rides with him burning out through the gears and sliding sideways up his gravel driveway. When his wife gave him a disapproving look as we pulled up to the house he remarked "sorry Deb, no more rides today" |
I still have it, but my son was in a collision with it. I've been looking for a car like yours since he smashed it up, to recreate it.
|
Sorry to hear that
|
So…..what is the seller asking for the car ?
Or is it one of those “what’ll you give me for it” kind of deals ? |
Here's a '67 Tempest coupe roller in Vicksburg Mississippi for 2k.
