1967 AC water pump pulley
 

I am putting my 1967 Gto back together, can anyone tell me which pulley to put on water pump. Car has AC, power steering. Thanks

Do you have any idea what the correct water pump pulley is for a 67 Pontiac 400 with PS and no AC? I have # 9786819 but it's too big and hits my crankshaft pulley.

the "819" is correct wp pulley for non AC application for '67 & 68. The reason this 8" diam pulley is hitting the lower pulley is the lower pulley is an 8" diam crank pulley from a factory AC car. Nice unpittted '67 non AC pulleys are not the easiest to find, as more non AC cars were sold up north, then driven into the ground. The ravages of salt & moisture have taken their toll. Have pulled a ton of mid 60's to 1970 non AC pulleys over the last 30 years when up north, & the days of finding nice clean ones is getting tough. Best to place a wanted ad in the classifieds, keep in mind the '64-66 crank pulleys are different, narrower grooves.

As Scott mentions the smaller diam "886" wp pulley would be easiest, prob need to ck PS pump pulley diam too. If the large diam one, the swap should work fine.

Thanks. So just to be clear, my 9786819 water pump pulley is correct for the 67 Pontiac w/o AC and with PS but it's hitting because the crank pulley is for an AC car?

As an alternative, I can use a water pump pulley # 9788886, which is also technically correct but a little smaller?)

Just to be a little clearer, non A/C cars used roughly a 7" crank pulley and an 8" water pump pulley while A/C cars swapped sizes and had 8" on the bottom and 7" on the top to overdrive the pump and fan. There is about 15-3/4" between centerlines so two 8" pulleys won't work since they hit.

My notes show the following part numbers that I had on my original A/C GTO.

Crank 8” Double Pulley 9786907
Crank Single A/C Pulley 9782704
Water Pump 7” Pulley 9786909 XJ

The Parts Place offers all three reproduction A/C pulleys on ebay. they even have the correct part numbers stamped on them. I've ordered and installed three sets from them for club members' cars and only problem was one water pump pulley had a wobble and had to be replaced. All others looked and performed like original pulleys.
