Trico Classic Wiper blade replacements 15"

Check these out guys!
Wiper blades with stainless steel inserts! Only thing not like originals is that they don’t have the Trico stamping on one end of the holders.

Where you been

:D Glad you found them. They are real nice. I've been using them for over a year now.
Good fitment and they work well in the rain as they should :D

Also saw them on Rockauto the other day.

Back when the ACDelco warehouse distributor I used to work for (I left full time employment about 2 years ago) brought on the Trico line I worked with a Trico rep for 2 days calling on customers and showing them the advantage over other brands. This was about 5 or 6 years ago.

In working with him, we discussed all the different blades available. One that got my attention was the Trico "Classic" series blades and wiper arms. The rep told me that he would get me a complimentary set for my GTO. I was excited about this and had planned to let everyone know about this on the board. I knew they wouldn't have the "Trico" stamping on them, but I thought it would be something most here would be interested in.

However, I was disappointed when I got them as they aren't polished stainless steel like the originals.

Are they now polished stainless steel or are they still the dull finish like the one's that I have (still new in the box)?

They can't be polished per DOT regulations. Polished items can cause glare. This regulation went into effect in the late 1960's if I recall correctly.

For the Tempest Series cars.

1964, 1965 were full polished (arm, blade holder).

1966 and newer were the non-glare satin finish.

1) 1965
2) 1966

Chris.

I paint the polished surface that faces the windshield flat back because of the glare. Did that on 64 GTO and still do it.

As I have a '64, mine are polished. I guess I never paid attention on the newer one's.

That said, from your photos, the '66 units don't seem to be as "dull" as the Trico classics. Could be just how they look in the photos.

sun glare.

I Put electrical tape on the blades and arms on my 1965 GTO to reduce the glare so I can remove it when necessary. Thanks Bob.

FWIW - I've never had a glare problem with my polished stainless wiper arms and blades. Must be my driver position if others are having issues.

The ones on my 65 are Tricos that have a built in wing and a red button at each end. Looks like 3 piece.

ReelFun 12-19-2019 11:22 PM

I want to slide the rubber part out and keep my arms with the wings. Will they slide out?

Yes.

That's how you typically replaced blades back in the day - just replacing the rubbers.

At the very end of the blade their is a little "clip" - squeeze in and the actual rubber blade will slide out. Hard to see in this photo, but the clip is on the bottom.

I've typically just bought the rubber replacements for my cars as I still have the original shiny stainless holders in the 64's and the 66, but I'll use the brush finished ones on my '67 as is.

ReelFun 12-20-2019 06:23 PM

I bought some of the blades today at O'Reilys. I see they will slide out. Andre, where do you buy the rubber replacements?

The Champ 12-21-2019 09:11 AM

Any DECENT auto parts store that handles Anco or Trico should be able to get them. They may not stock them, but Anco and Trico make them.

Here's a link for Anco units for a '64 GTO on Amazon:

Problem with mine is one side is missing one end where the red button is.

I bought my GM replacements for GM, LOL. Ya I know they are probably not available anymore. Just the rubber parts for my stock shiny stainless metal blades. Can supply the part number if anybody wants but I'm pretty sure they are no longer available.

Skip Fix 12-22-2019 01:47 PM

So where the winged ones factory or just a replacement?

My '04 GTO the factory arms had a wing on the driver's side.

ReelFun 12-27-2019 11:31 PM

My winged arms are stamped Anco. I doubt they are factory. Most likely replaced over the years. They were on the car when I got it 12 years ago.
