71 Quadrajet Stamping Question
Has anyone seen a carb stamping with this in front of the number, see pic? 7041270, looks to be service replacement with date 2222.
Rochester Quadrajet. Don't remember seeing that in front of the number before. Let me know what you think or if you have seen this before. thepontiacman@yahoo.comhttps://...b6489bff49.jpg Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk |

Thats probably a 1982 produced SR
In the later 70's they went to the new numbering system where they all started with a 1 . Looks like that one initially/accidentally got the 1 - then they caught it and bleeped it out. |
that's a later service replacement;
The date code might lend you to believe it's 222nd day of 1972, but those "dots" only appeared with late 1970's carbs, so I'm with Baron on this one. |
Wonder what it might be worth, being a SR?

it's worth just as much as any other 7041270 SR carb;
Granted I am not in the know, but I'd guess probably an easy thousand. I think originals are worth about double that. |
A true 7041270 should have a single ring booster in the primary. What does this have?
|
Over the years I've had two SR dated 7041270's in my hands. Both were manufactured in '74 & no longer had the single booster ring design. Neither had the same casting airhorn or throttle body as originals.

I have a 1971 400 M/T SR 7041263 made 1975 and itīs a single booster Qjet.
Why would they make a SR for the 1971 455 H.O. that is not a single booster when they obviously made one for the 400 M/T? |
Here are pics of inside carb. Looks like single booster style.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...557510f013.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0f134f1ef2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a7122f7dbc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...11cbcd72f4.jpg

Here is the throttle bracket that was bolted to this carb . Looks a little different to me. What do you think?
The ball stud is usually 72-up. Other part of bracket is different from what I am used to seeing. Is it a special bracket for certain application? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4220de224a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a3a7efb71b.jpg Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk |
This throttle lever has the bracket for 1970-72 Firebird T/A Shaker Ram Air Actuator Switch.
|
the throttle bracket is for a '71 Formula or T/A. The shaker activation switch bracket is '70 or '71 T/A. In 1972, the flapper door switch was on the gas pedal.

Thanks for the info!
I figured it might be something specific. I didn't remember that. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk |
