4 33 with 15 inch rims?
This is the Canadian phs for a 69 gto that was printed off in 1993. Everybody says no, cant have 15s and can't have 4 33 without ra3 or 4 . Should a new phs be reordered?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...42e880d5ea.jpg

I'd solve this by asking a few questions about the assumptions. This purports to be an actual PHS (or equivalent)
1) were 15" rally IIs ever offered on GTO in 1969? No 2) Could this car have had a dealer-installed change of wheels? If dealer installed 15's as customer request, would they be on a PHS? No 3) Does code N98 exist for GTOs in 1969? Can't find reference to it. Appears as Dealer Installed Ski rack in 1971 4) With a computer-printed version of this document, could it be easily altered? Yes If it were me attempt to validate such a claim, I'd go to the source directly versus relying on a printed document of unknown origin. |
That is just the GM of Canada guys messing things up with option descriptions. N98 is GM's generic code for rally wheels and is the code used for 14x6" RII's on 69 A bodies. They probably just used the description for a different make and year (probably buick rally wheels as they were chromed).
Neat car by the way, not many 4.33 cars and especially rare on base engine cars. Clutch fan was a good idea with 4.33's! And reverb, power antenna and hideaways are nice unexpected touches for a drag type car. |
FYI
I have a Canadian PHS from my 69 gto judge and it lists WS2 ( rear shoulder seat belts)where it should of listed WT1 (THE JUDGE) The micro film copy that came with the Canadian version had listed as WT1. To confirm I sent for the American PHS and it came back with WT1. So they do make mistakes. |
I wouldn't argue against the 4.33 gears , it was an available option even on base engine cars.
But very unique on a base engine car. GM of C was notorious for wacky made up wording that wasn't compliant to factory lingo. Someone blundered the whole 15" and Chrome definition. I think they have gotten more streamlined with most of it now. Also, i think GM of C has the capacity for the P-Code of whatever tire was installed, even if standard. iirc That would link back to a specific tire and size. American PHS or another run through GM of C would probably set the wheel size straight. 15" Rally 2 didn't materialize until 1970 TA. Impossible element for a 69 GTO. |

In Olds docs I've seen, they show a 1968 4-4-2 W30 as having a "W-Machine" package when that lingo was not used till 1969. It's like they have an Excel spreadsheet and give definitions for all the codes, but they end up being an umbrella for all the model years when the wording may only pertain to a smaller sample of years. Did I explain that well? Whatever the case, JMHO. |
