correct T handle for Judge

What is the correct T handle for the Judge suppose to look like?
I have seen 2 types, the one with the number 4(closed) like this and the other with the four open.

Open 4 is correct. Py sells the correct one, I bought one this year in bowling green. AMES for example, sells the incorrect one.

Judge273 11-10-2011 08:29 PM

Correct for what year?

bruwster 11-10-2011 11:50 PM

are they different by year? 69,70,71

Ram4king 11-11-2011 02:27 AM

Yep and the real ones are different than the repros sold today if your anal about it.

getmygoat 11-11-2011 02:31 AM

What are the differences by year? I guess I assumed open 4 was correct for all years.

I've got a correct reproduction one I'd sell for $ 40 shipped.

The polished handle on the right reminds me of the 1969 or 1970 (forget which year it was) Ford Boss 302 T-handle. It will have a hole drilled in the end and a set screw in the threads if so.

I sold this thing on e-bay for a "few" dollars.:D

bruwster 11-14-2011 01:03 AM

The handle on the right is after I polished the handle that's on the left. It was heavily oxidized with minor pitting, so I sanded with diffeernt grits and than hand polished it.
I was hoping to hear if the pattern was original or a reproduction.
I know it should be brushed, just haven't had time to mess with getting to the brushed finish.

Ram4king 11-14-2011 01:14 AM

They look original to me. I have a collection of used and nos ones and ones off low mileage survivors and none of my originals have the brushed finish.
