Pontiac Nationals at Norwalk

This years show was cancelled this morning.😢

vwmailman 06-01-2020 09:43 AM

Major bummer.

73LeMans 06-01-2020 10:58 AM

Booooooooooo pandemic.

This was the first year I was actually going to be ready. Major bummer indeed. I feel bad for all of the folks that invested so much time and effort for this to be canceled.

There'll be riots in the streets (burnouts included) :3gears:

sdbob 06-01-2020 11:03 AM

Yes bummer. Missed 1st year only. Dang! Can I have open headers? Doing a burnout! Compete with the noise motorcycles make on my back road.

and then drink some Rolling Rock

Big time Bummer!! But, we won't destroy any property--that I guarantee you!!

sdbob 06-01-2020 05:23 PM

You are a where Rolling Rock is not made in Latrobe anymore with mountain spring water. Grew up a block away. A lot of kid stories from there

RocktimusPryme 06-01-2020 05:39 PM

On a slightly more positive note Injun Wars just posted dates on their facebook page. October 24th and 25th @ Indy. Maybe more people will make that show/race with the Nationals being gone for the year.

It was fun last year, though the swap meet part of it didnt really work out due to lack of participation. I would definitely like to see more people show up with stuff to sell.

ANDYA 06-01-2020 06:49 PM

Well, look at the bright side. For those who were not going to make it this year, now they're not going to miss out. It gives us all a chance to plan for next year and turn it into the best attendance Tri Power Nationals ever.

What a Bummer! It is the boys weekend out for my son and I. I bring my car for the car show and he likes to watch the drag racing, plus we get to camp out. He is 11 now and we have been doing it since he was 4. Will certainly put it on the calendar for next year, but this is my favorite Pontiac event of the year by far.

Just imagine how crazy it will be in 2021

Firedup6975 06-02-2020 01:37 PM

Car related events everywhere are cancelled for the season, I don’t race, I have show cars, but I love drag racing and this event had the best of both worlds, along with the best Pontiac automotive flea market anywhere! Plus the $1.00 ice cream was amazing. :(

I'm crossing my fingers for an exception to that. I've sent in my entry for the Loring Timing Association landspeed event which is still scheduled to occur July 15th-19th in Maine. CDC guidelines in effect, including no spectators allowed- but LSR isn't a spectator sport anyway. However, Loring is 700 miles from me and all the states on my route (VT, NH, CT, MA, ME) currently have 14 day quarantines at their borders- which would need to change before the event.

I wouldn't sweat the "14 day quarantine" at the borders. I just drove from Baltimore to waaaaaaaaaay out on the end of Long Island, NY two weeks ago to pick up a '73 GTO hood...passing through Delaware and New Jersey to get there. I had zero issues with the law or with anyone for that matter. Bottom line is they can't stop interstate travel.

Maybe you're right Brian. Perhaps the quarantines are merely "advised"?
Although my alternate route would probably be subject to Canadian border restrictions.

Kennybill 06-05-2020 10:03 PM

The Snowflakes are supposed to be on the car not deciding to cancel the event.
