Figured I oughta introduce myself

Hello everyone!
If this is the wrong spot for introductions I apologize, new to the site. I'm new to Pontiacs and the forum, to get things rolling let me tell my Pontiac story. Last year a buddy of mine found a 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix for sale at a junkyard. Him knowing that I was a GM enthusiast he twisted my arm to go look at the car. After looking at the car and speaking with the junkyard, I found that they were going to crush the car if nobody bought it as it had been sitting for sale for a couple months. I then struck a deal with the junkyard and I became the proud owner of a 1967 Grand Prix for $900. Like most cars from 60s there's rust here and there but overall I think it's solid enough to be worth saving, with the majority of rust that I can see being in the trunk and rear window. I'm sure there's more hidden surprises but it runs and is able to move so that's a plus. Like most car guys I have a couple other projects so the GP will be on the backburner for some time, but I'm currently studying Autobody at a technical college so I might chip away at the rust issues as I become more confident in my skills. 67 GP was a one year only model and only year there was a 'vert. I had one for a long time and can answer questions. Where are you (just city is fine) ? Usually high body rust is on a car that sat near the Atlantic for a long time. How is the trunk floor.

Very cool car. Hide away headlights are so cool. There is a lot of help here so ask anything. These folks have seen it all before. I like that your junkyard sold you the car. All the yards around me will not sell a complete car once they get their hands on it. Don't ever let the rust stop you. Sites like Metalmeet readily can show you how to shape patch panels and weld them in. Like anything in this world, try it and you will learn. Second patch will be better. The third even better. People can do amazing things if they try. Good luck and send as many pictures to us as you can. And thanks for saving that old Grand Prix. She will be Grand again.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I have done some patch welding in my Autobody class but I still need some practice, sounds like a trip to the junkyard to get a junk fender to work on. I'll have to look through the pictures I've taken of the car so that you guys can get a better idea of the cars condition but the damage is definitely not insurmountable.

061 head is open chamber. 670 and 143 closed. 670 is GTO head.

'67 is my favorite of the long wheelbase GPs.
You'll get good practice at shooting color with those big panels. What's the paint code on the body tag? |
