New build

Just over a year ago I crated up all the pieces I had for my all aluminum twin turbo motor that will go in the 70 GTO. I sent the crate to a shop in the Midwest that I am absolutely certain can get the job done right the first time. It has been in line, waiting its turn, and last month (Nov) work began.

The first job will be the cylinder heads. The Warp6 heads don't need much in the way of port work. I did have KRE CNC port the exhaust side and go with the big exhaust valve (1.850"). But the intake side was left alone with the standard 2.250" valve size. Most of the work will be in the combustion chamber to work with the pair of 75mm turbo's. Seats are for Ti valves, and will need changing. Likely take the exhaust side to 1.880" when we replace them with the Moldstar90 valve seat material that Ferrea recommended.

I have many of the major parts for the longblock. Need pistons, rods, lifters, pushrods and custom hydraulic roller. Foundation is a Gen II All Pontiac aluminum block and a CCW Bryant Billet crank (4.125" stroke). Should come in at 468-474 ci. The heads require a minimum 4.250" bore. TBD.

I will occasionally post progress results, and whatever pics I can get.

I expect this to easily take most or all of 2019 to complete. At some point, when the long block is finished and we have to get the intake and exhaust sides done I will likely need to ship the car so the headers/turbo mounts can be fabbed. Engine is mounted with front and rear plates. so no need for a trans.

Wish this engine was in my junk.pretty sure my heavyweight would run a 7 with that beast in it.I'll be watching this build wishing I could make half the power this thing is going to make.

Nice, Tom! I remember MANY years back when you sent me a pic of your first IA block-- I thought it was SO cool then... Now days, I'm always on the look out for the next major bump in the level of Pontiac development!
I'm excited to see your progress!

I appreciate all the kind words. Real progress is being made.

The Warp6 heads are moving right along. The combustion chambers are softened. The seats have been replaced with Moldstar90 material and a mold casting was done on one cylinder and sent to CP pistons, so the pistons are being made. Only need one casting because its a symmetrical head. The exhaust valve ended up at 1.800".

Because the heads have a minimum 4.250" bore requirement, we will go 4.280". With the 4.125" stroke its 475 ci. We would have preferred a somewhat smaller bore, but you can't always get what you want. I think its a reasonable trade off for using these heads.

Connecting rods are the brand new for 2019 Molnar 'Power Adder Plus' in 4340 billet. 6.700" long.

More to come as it happens. Maybe some pics along the way.

In preparation for things to come, we are stripping all the paint on the 70 GTO body. It needs to be removed because I will get the car painted, and I want to see what kind of rust, damage, etc is under there. Lots of cancer means lots of $$$$ to fix.
With the drivers side all stripped and some initial filling/blocking done, we didn't find a single spec of rust.
Will shoot a couple of coats of Squeeg's epoxy primer on the bare metal as we go to seal it up and protect it from any moisture.

Still plugging away on this. Fighting some health issues, so I am a bit distracted. I think the only custom part needed to be able to wrap up the longblock are a set of shaft rocker arms.
I need to get the car ready to send to LPI so they can fab the intake and exhaust plumbing in the engine bay. Really hoping to get that done later this year.

Its happening

I'm finished messing around with the Hellcat. Almost done with the remote tuning as well. Pretty happy with the results too. But, my heart belongs to another. So the Hellcat is going to be sold.

Been slowly having work done on the GTO. A few months back I had the rolling chassis trailered to the body shop, where its been sitting in the queue ever since. Well, its out of the queue now and the build is on.

I had the drip rails removed to smooth out the roof lines. And the 1 piece glass front end needs final mounting. All panels will be realigned, gaps will be addressed, etc. Going with Bright Orange for the color. Making some modern upgrades. I watch 'Bitchin Rides', and always liked their flush door handles, so I have a pair of those going on. I'm going to do a 455 Judge clone, with all the graphics and emblems.

LPI is wrapping up the all aluminum, 8L, twin turbo Pontiac engine. This uses an All Pontiac gen 2 aluminum cylinder block and KRE Warp 6 cylinder heads with a pair of custom S400 75mm turbo's.

Will post progress pics.
