Hey guys

I remember my 1970 gto had my vin stamped on top of the tranny on a machined flat pad .does the 1967 m20 4 speed have the vin stamped anywhere? I found a picture in one of my Pontiac books showing a vin stamped . I’ve included the picture of it .

I think 1968 was when they started the VIN stamping?

Ya weird. I was looking at a 65 gto a while back with a 4spd and his tranny was stamped exactly like the picture I just posted out of my restoration book

''Most'' of the time on your 67 PHS / Billing History Card - it will list the Engine Unit Number
- and the Transmission Unit Number.

The TUN will be stamped like your picture - IF the trans is original to the car.

Some 67 BHC's do not list out the TUN though.

Sometimes the stamping is very light and difficult to see.

Late to the party again. My M20 trans has the last seven digits of the car's VIN number stamped as shown on the attached photo. This is on my blue '67 GTO that I factory ordered and trans was never out until I pulled both engine and trans together when finally going through the engine.

Letters are horizontal and haphazardly done. Digets shown are Z7769-- Wonder what the O or Q is for on the top piece?

That’s cool . Curious about the O also .

We pulled my tranny out to replace the original clutch and to clean .
Here is a picture of my partial vin stamped on it and some random pics I took of the transmission

P7R27 is Oct. 27th 0f 1966 for an early 1967 model year car...

Different assembly plant had different VIN stamping practices...
Pontiac Mi. assembly plant was VIN stamping GTO's in 1964 model year...

hope this helps... Crash
