Comparing Starter 1107355 versus 1108353

Curious if anyone knows the main difference between the 2 starters other than the 1108353 is a RAIII.

I need something to replace my missing 1108353 starter and don’t think I’m finding one so thought about a standard 1107353 and wanted to know main differences and if there is any issues running a 335 on a RAIII motor.

There is one on EBay it’s only $1898.49. That’s insane!!!

Thise starters have been high for a few years now. No different than the 4500 273 carb that everyone needs too.

Yea, I’ve seen that. I’m more curious as to what the differences are. Is there a problem using the 355 starter?

All 3 are high torque so it would probably work fine.

looks like the 335 isn't up there anymore so both are high torque

Yes Don, that’s why that 273 is still on my wanted list. LOL, I don’t even see them that much anymore. One of these days...

Since they are both high torque then I would assume the RAIII has a higher torque value than a standard.

Money is a secondary issue to deal with, finding a correctly or close dated 69 8353 is the first hurdle, never seen a 69 for sale yet.

Yea, any Good condition PMD Hi-TQ Starter is going to play very well with your 400.

I have an unstamped GM Hi-TQ starter (of that era) laying around. DROOL. Gimmie big bucks.

That is why i have little respect for stampings adding value to Production parts. Carbs, Dizzys, Starters.

MOTORs repair manual dated 1970 has a very fine list of PMD Starter Stampings, and their Specs.
