I have purchased two of these and the quality is hands down the best there is for a Pontiac engine cradle! Here's a picture of my Funny car with its engine mocked up on one of these stands.

Tom I had a similar question as yesterday I tried to bolt one up to my 78 block that only has the 3 bolt holes per side. Or a bracket to bolt to the cradle and the upper middle bolt.

I think I found and easy solution. The picture of the E head motor above shows the 5 bolt bosses drill. Later motors including 301s use 3 . Here is a picture of the mount and what holes they use. Using a strap that bolts to the cradle where that hole is and tap the strap there to bolt the strap to the cradle and extend the strap to the hole in front of it(3.110") and behind it(3.750") that are near the pan rails so you get more stability than just one hole. If you wanted to pick up that last hole at the very back for a 5 hole block it is 5.150" from the cradle bolt hole.
I have one 557 block with the extra bosses( I think the 78 TA XX block also does) but my 180 HP 78 block only has the 3 needs on the passenger side as shown. and 4 on the other side the 3 used and then the rear most on the driver's side. I think the 301 just has the 3 mount holes but mine is buried and the POS cradle on it covers them. The POS cradle used for a late motor was some other source 20 years ago and it only picked up one bolt and no brace back by the bell housing bolt holes so the pan is sitting on a board at the back! It was made for early motors. |

Do you build these? If so, could one be ordered taller? I want to build a run stand and this would save me a lot of time.

Has anyone heard from the OP been waiting in shipped price?
Thanks |
I heard from him earlier this week. Fedex changed something and he was waiting to hear from them. I am waiting too.
