LeMans Stripe Color

What color stripes would my '71 LeMans have likely came with? It was Castillian Bronze, Sienna interior with a White convertible top. I have owned the car since 2006 and am just now getting the PHS for it and was surprised to see the vinyl stripe option.

It would have had the 'eyebrow' stripes in white/red with Castillian Bronze exterior color.

The stripes would definitely be the two-color eyebrow stripes. Either red/white or red/black.
On Castillian Bronze I’m thinking your car would look like the one in the “you don’t have to be over 30” advertisement, which had red/ black eyebrows. |
Your car has some interesting options... 400 2bbl, towing and heavy load springs. I guess that was the idea of the 400, to get the extra torque for pulling.

The GT-37 used for advertising I believe was Canyon Copper. It was also a preproduction that they for some reason used black/red striping. I pulled a couple of build sheets from our dealership for a 1971 Canyon Copper and a Castillian Bronze and both colors used 'C' designations for stripe color which is white. If built with black stripes an 'A' would have been used.

Ooooh, I learned something today!
So I had to dig out my GT-37's build sheet. Mine is an early Rosewood car, and for 20 years I've wondered if it came with red/black or red/white stripes. I see that it has a 'C' in that box, which means white. This site rocks. Attachment 551913 |
Castilian Bronze cars received Red & White eyebrow stripes. Here is a pick of a 71 I owned with the original factory paint and stripes on the fenders and doors.
