I need some advice. I have a fairly substantial transmission fluid leak on my PQ code Turbo 400. It appears to be coming from around the parting line where the tail piece connects to the main transmission body. Has anyone else had a problem with this and how difficult is it to pull this and replace that gasket? TIA.

Very easy fix.Take the mount off and unbolt the tail housing, depending on what car you have, you may have to move the crossmember.
Once you have the housing off, clean the gasket area on both surfaces and replace the gasket. You can also use black silicone(not alot)or anerobic sealant(made by Loctite).
The anerobic sealant will not dry until it is airtight, and will seal up to .020 gaps.
If you use silicone and use too much, you could clog a govenor port.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I'm also wondering if I could raise the rear of the car and not have to drain the transmission to do this. Looks like it should work.
