What a talent and a pioneer in music videos.
Another great one leaves the stage! At least we’ll always have his music.

The Monkees and GTOs.

What a great time to be alive back when that was happening. :)

RIP Mike.

I grew up watching The Monkees. RIP Mike

When the show came on the air one of my friends was a dead ringer for Mike, so he became my favorite Monkee.

RIP Mike Nesmith. I grew up with the show and the music like many here. Great pop songs that still sound good today . I like that none of the 4 members took their celebrity too seriously and seemed to have real fun with it. Thanks for the memories.

I had no use for the Monkees back then but "Timerider" is a pretty cool motorcycle/time travel movie he wrote, produced and scored.

I didn't know until tonight that Mike Nesmith wrote the song Different Drum that was made famous by Linda Ronstadt.

RIP.Grew up watching their show also. Made you feel good.

Sad news.
The Monkees came into being just as I was becoming aware of the pop music scene thus, their music was an intregal part of my growing up.
I still like their whole music catalog, and the songs that Michael wrote are particularly good.

Who else can say that Jimi Hendrix opened for them? Only lasted seven dates.
First album I ever bought was “More of the Monkeys”. My brother, who is three years older than me, bought “Electric Ladyland”.

Like many here, I watched the show every week.

Many interesting connections, but I liked the side story about his mother inventing and making a fortune off Liquid Paper.

He took the last train to Clarksville .
RiP Mike
Thanks for the wild tv show and the great songs.

MONKEES.

Mike was the only real musician in the MONKEES. They used the best studio musicians in LA to record. I had a friend that used to play the music live behind the stage and sometimes under the stage as they faked that they were really playing. Well that's show business for ya.

Peter Tork was also a "real musician".
