KRE 290-295 heads by SD
Trying to get hold of dave for some info, assume hes busy, any that has these heads, im looking to get new viton seals..............cant seem to find the size on these.
Thease heads are from 2010 with about 25 thou miles on them.............having the motor redone with my oil issues..........dont know if the seals are bad or not, just thought i would get them just in case...............another thought if getting new seals, does it pay to get springs and guides also. Thanks Rich |
You can check the seat pressure on springs and see if they have lost much vs replacing them automatically. And check how the guides feel if excessive wear. If down that far I would replace the seals.

There’s two questions that need to have a answer, and I can resolve one for you,
You need seals for 11/32” valve stems, but the 2nd part that I can’t answer is if the guides are are sized for seals that are .530” ID, or if they have been cut drown to .500” If the heads have solid guides then you will need the .500” seals. Comp cams sells both. Any time you disassemble the heads and the in doing so the valves get pulled out through the seals, then new seals should be installed! It’s cheap insurance. Also good oil control calls for good seals and good valves. If your machinist finds any valve stems that are worn more then .001” then they should get replaced, and replace with valves with hard chromed stems like the factory builds with. And the same with .001” or more worn valve guides. |

They don't make the 99893 springs anymore. As far as valve seals, can't you remove one and measure it. There are lots of sources for valve seals. A replace spring for the Crane 99893 is a Howard 98445.

The PSI spring CT1225ML maybe another spring for replacement. There are a few slight differences. Would need professional head guy to confirm.
