The specs of that cam are similarly close to the old Comp High Energy 268h, those cam designed for lower compression engines, I bet that's why it's pinging on ya.

Yeah they look like same amount of thread showing but we're easy to turn. Had read an old trick about squeezing them in a vice to restore some locking force guess that didn't work.
