Pretty sure this car has IGN-1/resistance wire and IGN-2/(the yellow crank wire) under the dash. With a single wire from bulkhead connector to coil (+).

IGN-1 and IGN-2 both come off the ignition...

The Cause?

That resistor wire should never have seen enough current to have a melt down.

It's the excite wire to terminal 0ne in the voltage regulator.

Get the alternator checked out and inspect the...

Find someone that mixes enamel paint for cars. They can look at paint formulas to see how much flatening agent is needed to turn gloss black into semi-gloss, satin or flat.

Some component in this engine is getting smoking hot for oil temps to reach 400°f under no load...

Only true when intake vacuum is high enough to out run crankcase fumes.

No intake vacuum under heavy load and the crankcase fumes come out the valve cover vent.

To be expected when you deep fry engine internals at 400°f with 10W30 engine oil.
