The green/orange wire is used by the PCM to ground the bulb and turn it on. If other warning lights in the cluster work, the MIL probably has power. You could ground the green/orange wire and the...

It looks like you’re ready to pull the head off? I’d urge you to do a leakdown test before you do that. You’ll see bubbles in the coolant if the gasket is leaking (or the head is cracked). If you...

Your gauge said 225, you shut the engine off, still with the radiator cap off, and it didn’t blow coolant all over? 50/50 antifreeze/water boils at about 223, and I’d think it would have instantly...

It’d be interesting when it doesn’t start to hold the throttle wide open and see if it starts (treating it like it’s flooded). Some models seem to flood when started cold a couple times and not run...

No, sorry, but they’re not. A temp switch is a real switch — on or off. A temp sensor is a thermistor, which varies its resistance depending on temp. Same with an oil pressure switch vs pressure...

I don’t think so…the oil pressure light comes on with the engine off because there’s no oil pressure and the oil pressure switch is closed. The temp light comes on in the start position because the...

If it still has a catalyst on it, they can mimic fuel starvation if plugged. Not sure this fits the symptoms, though, without driving it.

I’m not sure that’s necessarily true. It could be, though. The odometer is strictly a mechanical connection, so it is what it is, but the speedometer needle is driven magnetically, with no mechanical...

That’s about right for a glovebox light, if you have one. Somebody might have mentioned that — it’s a common culprit.

Are you saying that the coil in the choke stove unrolled somehow? That’s a bimetallic strip, so its curvature changes as the temperature changes. I’m not sure it’ll work right if you unrolled it and...

Multi-viscosity oil doesn’t get thicker as it warms up, it just doesn’t thin out as much. I’m not sure it really matters, but in my mind it makes sense to change it warm.
