Talking Intake

Been trying this setup that I installed a few weeks ago.
Definitely keeps carb and runners cooler. Motor seems really

Installed intake with seperated water and exhaust crossover

Modified 9799068 intake and seperated water crossover.
Used repop exhaust crossover.
Drove it Sunday and she ran excellent weather 55-60.
There will be a lot more testing in summertime!!!!

Seperated crossover

Yeah part of me wants to try it with the separated crossover.
Sure it would reduce heat to carb and intake overall.

Question Question

I thought the aluminum intakes were exact copies of iron.
Only exhaust was separate casting!!!
Bottom pics appears similar to my modified iron intake.
I may be wrong but just thought it might be...

Intake thoughts/ repop benefits but iron.

Years ago I picked up a factory 140 intake for a few bucks at the E-town swap meet.
I then had a winter project where I removed exhaust crossover and seperated water crossover

Been running the on Melling SPC-7 for about 8 years. tech said breakin oil
was key and they really work best with 10w30 to pass oil instantly down to lobe at startup.

Took it out for a short ride and also top off gas tank.
Came back and changed oil and filter.
Finally installed new cap & rotor, she did run smoother!!
time to put her away for winter.

modulator line

this was on a stock drivetrain. friend bought a drivetrain from a parts car.
appears clean original 400 block with TH400 trans. Modulator line appeared
original and this a grocery getter wagon!!!...

AC pulleys to overdrive water pump and fan.
Should is key player here. Still have original on mine.

mechanical gauge with sender in crossover near thermostat, actually port behind alternator.

That’s exactly the same pitting mine had on bearings and race.
Only in the top side, where no oil was.

Gap recommendation

Gap was what I ran with points as well.
When I swapped to DUI HEI they recommended
Keeping gap the same. The gap is determined
by compression ratio not ignition source.
