Exactly! I think most Pontiac engines make more torque at 2200 RPM than most other engines. Not to mention wear and tear from spinning them that high for hours on end. :eek:

My 72 455HO GTO had 3.55 gears with a 4 speed. I hated it on the highway, 3000 rpm @ 70 MPH and would heat up. :(

Like many here I have become very used to OD vehicles. My 70 Skylark has 3.31...
