Yes, it needs to be flipped and bolted to the head. You want it close/tight to the head so the bit won’t try to flex and walk into the original slot.

FYI, the POR 15 satin black is rated at 450deg continuous. Other than around the heads exhaust ports or coolant cross overs you not going to reach that temp.
