It's a heavier piece than the Pontiac housing. I had one from a '57 GMC and the starter bolts up to the bellhousing upside down from the Pontiacs. Motor mounts are kinda similar but different.

Thanks for the link. Got the head off the straight 8, replaced head gasket and freed-up a stuck #8 exhaust valve. Just finished up torqueing the head bolts down this evening. Hope I get some time...
