I came to the same conclusion when I tried to do this for my '64. The pro even took apart the one seat I'd done to get it right. Expensive, but worth every penny.

Also, each GTO emblem on the rear quarter panels are a different distance from the panel seam. Perhaps it's because the holes accommodate different model emblems. See this thread in this forum.

I made a typo with the backspacing. I meant to write 4.75 inch backspacing. I have American Racing Torq Thrust II. All four wheels are 17X8. My suspension is dropped 1".

I've got 235/45/17 on 17X8 wheels with 4.35...

I've got 235/45/17 on 17X8 wheels with 4.35 backspacing. No rubbing on my 64. Others on this board have the 235 on different diameter wheels with the same backspacing, with no issues.
