I have an old pair of metal ramps, use them all the time. Watch the front spoiler though as some won't clear the ramps.

When I'm welding floor pans, especially small welds, I make double sure I have my grounding clamp as close as possible and on bare metal. it makes the job much easier.

What I did was enlarge and shape the bolt to the next size up. I used a small cold chisel and my dremel. It was difficult but it worked.
