I've done several water pump bebuilds with kits I made myself. There are also kits on ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/175631581188) .You'll need a hydraulic press and press plates or equivalent.

The parasitic draw from the alternator is less than a tenth of a milli-amp based on your ohmmeter measurement. I'd say the alternator diodes are fine and the problem is elsewhere.

I wish you luck. They weren't easy to find even 14 years ago. I no longer have these. They did perk up my 326 2 barrel. It worked well with the correct Carter AFB and the 9782895 manifold made for it.
