My comments were directed at the use of cams and lifters in the traditional Pontiac engine. Corvettes/Vipers etc. are all broken in on a dyno long before the synthetic is put in at the dealership....

It's neither the cam or the lifters but rather the break in oil. I'm sure it appears somewhere else in this forum but I'll add what I know here. The zinc and phosphate has been removed from all oils...
