I believe the first one is the ac extension harness. One of the wires goes to the back of the alternator which feeds full power to the blower motor for high speed, and the other wire goes to the AC...

I suppose if you were careful you could drill out the hole in the poly gear to the same as the shaft and reuse the original pin. Just make sure you don't go too big.
