So my originals were lost by a shop... I still have the transmission inside the cowl.

The bigger the case the more quiet any muffler will be... 14" vs 20-22". So I'd run the biggest (longest) muffler under your car as will fit.

I went through the exact same dilemma and ended up getting the Dynomax Super Turbos and had them ceramic coated... Hooker has a new 3" stainless muffler but I'm not sure if it has the same straight...

I was concerned about that... so we called Dynomax. And while it is true that their normal 17743 reduces down to 2.5" internally they were able to source an old set for me that were indeed 3" all...
