I have been having good success using seafoam when equipment gets stored last few years. Kids go cart and quads get a healthy dose, and no issues with restart in the spring.

Roller issues like these concerned me enough to stick with standard lifters a few years ago. So far so good with Crower Cam Saver lifters and VR1 10W30. ...

cold startup

Well figured I would throw my findings in as they seem inline with others.

-temp outside was 18 and same in garage. Car has not been started in a week
or so. New aluminum radiator installed...

heat insulator

I had similar issue when using thin gasket only under my Q-jet.

Found that using a thin black gasket then the purple 1/4" gasket
from Cliff helped to isolate the heat from intake from the carb....

WP pulley

Agreed with gto guy. I noticed a difference in cooling when I swapped to
a smaller WP pulley. Remember both the water pump and fan spin faster that
that way!!
