But I'm not sure how it's going to solve anything on an engine that is mostly silent...

The studs are the same diameter - just threaded differently so you have the ability to adjust preload on the lifter using the crimp nuts - rather than just cranking down the nuts until they're tight...

It's an HEI distributor and I completely rebuilt it - I'm also running a very conservative base timing of 12...

I would think that would only apply when the engine is cold - but I get this "tick" even on hot...
