Do you have EGT's???? we ran the car rich -- 11.5 or so and had egt's in the mid 1600 range after we changed to a better exh. housing we were pushing 1800 with the more restrictive one.

BTW If you are running a 12 bolt ot 10 , Make sure the tubes have not come loose in the pumpkin -- and are rotating, that causes all kinds of grief .
