Lean mixture at idle or part throttle conditions burns slower and needs more time for the flame front to travel, as such increased timing is necessary.

Like others said, aluminum spacer, ratio is 2:1. I did this on my 68 Firebird, lift was exactly 2:1.

I have been using a WIX 51042 filter (napa 1042) filter and seems to work fine. It is also fairly small so easy to clear dougs header and quicktime bell housing.
