I belive he was talking in the context of the generic styling. Performance wise the GM Monaro can hold it's own. Other than that GM did nothing to distinguish this car as a GTO. It could have been called anything. The GTO moniker was most likely an afterthought in an attempt to ride the coattails of a legendary name.
