Larry, Pontiac internal factory memos listed the W72 for 1979 as T/A 400 UPC L78. The W72 designation was still used on all 1979 build sheets.
Dennis, According to Pontiac memos, Feb 22 1978 was the offical notification of the change in WS6 content to exclude W72. I have documented a 1978 W72 Trans Am ordered October 1977 and built without WS6.
