Horst, not sure if you say the current issue of Pontiac Enthusiast but John Sawruk has an article aboutr 72-74 GTO secrets. One of which states the following:
"Some 73 GTO's and Grand Ams have a working NACA(NASA) duct hood system. These are service parts, installed after the cars left the production line. It was intended to use this system in production, but we could not pass the Federal noise test with the setup as it was designed."
Not sure if it helps any but I thought it was funny to see what you're talking about in PE!
