Play400, I'm not familiar with the Pontiac steering end but it sounds like it's different from the Chevy somehow and being a Canadian model can also make it hard to guess but if I had to , I would say that the rack n pinion sounds like the way to go for you. One thing I would reccommend is to install tubular upper A arms. Many people claim that the rack installation makes the car too sensitive and you have to constantly adjust the wheel to keep the car centered on the road...the Better A arms allow you to adjust the camber to correct that problem.
