The LeMans has been sitting for a couple weeks because I don't know the answer to that question, and I didn't want to risk anything. BUT, my MR2 is history, and the LeMans has stepped up to bat as my heavy hitting DD.

Old wives tale. Plenty of race cars out there with no mufflers that have no problems with the valves. Mufflers are there to quiet the car, not keep the exhaust valves healthy.
