That reason for a swap to a 2bbl back then was really pretty common as was removing Tri Power in favor of a 4bbl. Too much trouble to keep all 3 carbs synchronized and 1 carb was going to use less fuel than 3 would was the reasoning, HUH!

In 1969 I traded my AFB off of my 67 326 HO even up, for a 66 GTO Tri Power setup for that exact reason, so I wasn't going to dispute the owners reasoning...................LOL
The 326 HO liked the Tri Power too. I was a senior in HS and attended the Vo tech auto mechanics school which had a chassis dyno. I dynoed the FB at 220 RWHP with just the trips, no headers, and the 068 stock cam.
